| Customer Reviews: Not for Adventurous Travelers August 3, 2010 RBC (CA) Fodors travel guides are aimed at the elderly and non-adventurous traveler. If you are the type who likes group tours with elderly people using canes, this is the book for you!
Very Helpful Guidebook July 25, 2010 mharlana As usual, a Fodor's guidebook does not disappoint. It includes beautiful photographs, useful maps, and excellent advice. The range of recommendations and ratings for restaurants and hotels runs the gamut, although there are other guides out there that would be of more use to the backpacker/hostel group. Highly recommended.
Can't go wrong with Fodor's June 4, 2010 Susan (Florida) Great book. Comprehensive with all the information you need. I bought it for a Cruise I am going on, but has plenty of info if you are staying in Italy. Highly recommend.
This book has EVERYTHING! March 25, 2010 Darrell Brangham 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
O.K. so i bought this book not realizing the size of the book. This is a very big book not one you stick in your pocket as your wondering around. But beyond the size of the book the actual book is amazing there is soooo much info for every location in Italy. I think you can not get a better travel guide. I planned my entire trip with the help of this book, buy it don't waste your time looking at others.
Pretty darned good Italy guidebook January 17, 2010 Michael A. Duvernois (Minneapolis, MN United States) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I haven't had a new Italy guidebook in a number of years, been using an old Lonely Planet guide for years. This is a good improvement, up to date, which is especially important for hotels and restaurants. In this Fodor's guide there's a good cross section of inexpensive and more luxurious accommodations. There's a lot of space on the sights and basics of getting around, which I didn't need as much so I'm not as good of a judge on that. The color photos look good and could help with planning before a trip, but are probably not as useful while on the road. A single book for a whole country is often pretty thin on the ground. A couple of my personal favorite places are mentioned though in the book, an interesting surprise. The book is a starting point though, best for first time travelers to Italy but useful for repeat visitors as well.
