Product Description Its the fantasy of every car enthusiast: Pull a tarp off a pile in a barn, or hear a farmer say "theres an old car out back" and discover a classic collectible such as a Hemi Cuda, a rare Porsche, or a Jaguar E-Type racer. Many such tales told during enthusiasts bench racing sessions are urban myths. But this book is full of true tales of rare gems pulled out of haystacks or junkyardsand there are before and after photos to prove it! Author Tom Cotter uses his engaging writing style in telling the tales of found Cobras, a rare Delehaye found disassembled in Czechoslovakia that eventually won Best in Show at Pebble Beach, a Ferrari racer found in a California woodchip pile, and several more. Cotter traces the early histories of the cars, how they were discovered, and where they are today.

This Could Be You May 28, 2010 Walter J. Jamieson Jr. 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There could be a Cobra or a Viper, a StingRay or even a Ferrari or a Lincoln Continental in a barn near you. Or, perhaps more likely, in a barn at the end of a rainbow somewhere. You probably won't find a Bugatti or an S-Type Invicta, but the many lucky car hunters and fine writers who contributed to this book have found interesting, buyable, restorable cars in barns, gardens and fields. Their stories are page-turners; their secrets: patience, plenty of travel, winning phone skills, and eyes and ears wide open at all times.
Whether you hunt for rare cars, hope to stumble upon them serendipitously, or just dream of doing so, you will enjoy "The Cobra in the Barn," Highly recommended.
The correct spelling is Duesenberg, despite being spelled a couple of different ways in the book.
A Cobra in the Barn February 10, 2010 Richard Roland Mackey (Great Falls, VA) I don't read books but I'm a car guy and I read this book in several days. The book contains 45+ short stories about barn finds of classic cars. The book was easy to read, had great pictures and now I'm looking for some barns to find my next car.
I'm just ordered "A Hemi in the Barn" by the same author.
Cobra in the barn July 12, 2009 Nicholas Dinnocenzo (Oswego, NY, USA) The Cobra in the Barn: Great Stories of Automotive ArchaeologyThis is an interesting collection of short stories in which old and sometimes classic cars are discovered. The stories are fascinating and the writing is adequate, I have recommended this book to many car lovers and bought additional used copies for some. The used copies received were exactly as promised;in like-new condition. As the author states, all but two of his 100 plus cars were originally not for sale when he acquired them. The book tells of cars other than his own as well, including the slowly disappearing Dusenburg which the deceased owner insisted never be sold or moved. It sits alone on top of a hill.

Enjoyed the book. Tom Cotter's stories about finding rare cars in barns is great. Another must read by Mr. Cotter is "The Hemi in the Barn.

Well written. Makes you think you are the one writing the story from personal experiences. Time well spent reading this one.
