Product Description
The final countdown?

On December 21, 2012, the Mayan calendar will complete its thirteenth cycle. According to the Mayan belief system, the world will end. And if you don’t believe the Mayans, you can check in with The Bible Code, The Nostradamus Code, or The Orion Prophecy, all of which predict planet-wide doom. Then again, maybe the year 2012 is just a new opportunity. Could 2012 bring us good things instead of bad? This book gives readers a look at what the Mayan prophecy is all about, what it means to them, and much more.

•Addresses Mayan predictions about global warming and climate change
•Includes a glossary of terms and symbols, resources for a changing world, and exercises to assist the reader in their journey
•The existence of almost 600,000 websites on 2012 indicates a huge fascination with this subject

5 out of 5 stars Smart!   June 28, 2010
Howard S. Gay Jr. (San Diego CA USA)
Synthia Andrews has really done her homework on all things Mayan and makes esoterica seem easy, simple and clear. She has a talent for interpreting the cosmological viewpoints of the Maya, the Gods, calendars, Time, math & Holy Books with great insight and translates what we would refer to today as chi and zeitgeist. Everything is in context as there are many chapters and sidebars for notes and definitions. Never have i gotten scattered, lost or confused as can happen in scholarly texts. She dispels some misconceptions too. The Mayans were metaphysical but their society was well ordered and more highly conscious than the legendary MU/Lemuria and Atlantis. I am merely giving a sketch of the first 1/3 of the book which is all things Mayan. There is much more like todays global concerns, climate change, health, science, prophecy, epidemics etc. The bottom line is the suggestion to focus on positive change and transformation rather than dwell on the destruction of the old and what is no longer sustainable. A valuable resource. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars New information to me...   June 15, 2010
Child of the Universe
An "Idiot's Guide" is simply that, a guide to those who have no previous information of a subject. That being clear, this literature is a useful broad introduction of the subject of 2012. This book does not thrive on fear for profits. Fear is a large part of the coming of 2012 whether or not it is stated blatantly. Change brings upon fear. I believe the authors are simply including this in their compilation of facts and opinion combined. When a book of this type of context and publication is being created, there is a massive limitation of the information and elaboration involved. Consequently, the authors have extended as much as they could regarding the time frame and limitations presented to them by creating this piece of work. I personally find it to be an informative, and quite witty interpretation of a subject that is larger than ANY author could cover in one literary compilation.

5 out of 5 stars Definitely worth buying - you'll feel In The Know   May 7, 2010

As 2012 approaches, we're all going to be confused about the conflicting reports, and the source of those reports. This book totally explains, in a way we can understand, the events expected and what sources the expectations come from. I strongly recommend it. After I read it, I felt "In The Know" on the topic. 5 out of 5 stars Tons of information that is easy to understand   November 30, 2009

I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this book. Would it be a satire about 2012? I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was not. From the first pages I was hooked. I have tried to read other books about 2012. They get so technical with some of the galactic explanations that my eyes glaze over. This book is written for the average joe and it is filled with so much valuable information and with such a well-rounded point of view. I'm certainly no expert on the subject, but what is in this book resonates with me and makes a lot of sense to me. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in what may or may not happen come 12/21/12 and those simply interested in respecting our planet. I will be referring back to this book often. I heartily thank the authors for a job well done.

5 out of 5 stars Very well-rounded look at the whole 2012 thing   October 26, 2009

This is the fourth book on 2012 I've read, and it's by far the most well-rounded. It looks at it from every conceivable point of view, allowing the reader to decide for him/herself what to believe or take to heart. Daniel Pinchbeck and John Major Jenkins's books are very good as well, but are more focused on certain aspects of 2012. I don't like the word 'idiot' on my books though!
